You can expect a small gathering of believers in a home who come together for fellowship, food, bible study and praising
Jesus Christ our savior.
We usually start the evening out with a meal. Some times a designated loaf of bread and cup is there representing
Christ's sacrifice and other times the food and drink itself are mentioned in prayer for the remembrance of Him.
We usually spend time in prayer for each other, followed by bible study, prayer, and dessert/fellowship.
What about preaching?
There is not a pulpit in our home, nor do people gather together to hear anyone "preach" in the traditional sense.
We
enjoy book studies out of the scriptures. Each person is as important as the next and there are no distinctions of clergy
and laity. The bible study is discussion based and each person is responsible for reading each week and learning as he or
she is able.
What do you do with children and youth?
This is one of the most common questiona. We believe that Christianity is a lifestyle that cannot be grasped once or
twice a week. With this in mind it is our belief that mom and dad, just mom, or just dad (whatever the home situation is)
should be teaching and emulating the Christian lifestyle each day with the kids. Kids who come to fellowship with their mom
and dad are more than welcome to sit in the living room with us, but are also welcome to play or watch a movie too.
We believe parents are the ones who should be teaching their kids scripture every day, and teaching them that Christianity
is not something that is passed down through genetics, but is a love relationship with a God who loves us.
What do you do with money such as an offering or tithes?
We don't ask for any money from anyone. We do not have any salaried church workers. There is no "upkeep" cost at
Wellspring. We do give money from Wellspring for lots of things though.
Our group is very involved in missions. We
help support several traditional and organic church plants. We have multiplied a few times and love to see God's money at
work.
We support a pregnancy care center in the Northland, give to various homeless ministries, help underprivileged
people, and get together for projects of different sizes.
We usually have an envelope available addressed to a lady
who keeps and distributes our finances. Some weeks there will be money to send to her and other weeks there will not.
Nobody in the group knows how much anyone gives, but we do know what is in our account through our independent treasurer.
She does this an a ministry for us at no cost and is a member of a different congregation.
We feel that this is best
for everyone. No one in the group has control over the money. We vote as a group as to how to spend the money as we need to,
thus eliminating any sort of formal business meeting.
